The Prophetic Bird
My new mixed-media painting of the beautiful Gamayun (Prophetic Bird) is ready!
This artwork belongs to my Mythological series.
Gamayun is a prophetic bird of Slavic folklore. It is a symbol of wisdom and knowledge and lives on an island in the mythical east, close to paradise.[citation needed] She is said to spread divine messages and prophecies, as she knows everything of all creation, gods, heroes, and man. Like the Sirin and the Alkonost, other creatures likewise deriving ultimately from the Greek myths and siren mythology, the Gamayun is normally depicted as a large bird with a woman's head.
I created this artwork using acrylic paint, graphic tools and markers on a cardboard (finnish cardboard with marble crump).
This artwork is framed in a black wooden frame and ready to hang!

Sirin. The Bird of Joy
New mixed-media painting of beautiful Sirin.
The Sirin is, according to Russian mythos and folklore, a woman-headed bird. It makes amazingly beautiful sounds, and those who hear these sounds forget everything they know and want nothing more ever again. The Sirin lays her eggs on a beach and then rolls them into the sea. When the Sirin's eggs hatch, a thunderstorm sets in and the sea becomes so rough that it becomes impossible to traverse. She is also the sister of other birds from Slavic mythology, such as Rarog and Stratim.

Mechtayuschiy
